I
am a Freelance Illustrator working from a studio in Llanelli, West Wales.
Over the years I have worked in a variety of jobs – I've been a nature
reserve warden, a primary school teacher, a community worker. In 1999 I went to back college to
to study illustration part-time, supporting myself with freelance community arts work. Since graduation I have worked fulltime as a freelance illustrator, with the occasional community project to stop me getting too lonely in my studio.
I specialise in collages of paper and wire, which are
often 3D creations which appear to stand out from the page when printed.
I am also versatile in a wide range of other media including print, watercolour,
gouache, pastel, ink and acrylic. I scan my images and sometimes layer
them together in Photoshop. As far as subject matter is concerned I can
tackle most things, and I like developing characters and communicating
concepts.
My recent clients include HarperCollins Publishers,
Times Educational Supplement, Gwasg Carreg Gwalch, Crown House Publishing, Girlguiding UK and Carmarthenshire NHS Trust.
